WIA Awarded 30 Winter Camp Scholarships In 2011 WIA awarded 30 Winter Camp scholarships to youth for participation in ski programs at Big Sky and Moonlight resorts. These scholarships allow all Big Sky youth the opportunity to learn the skill of skiing/snowboarding in their own backyard. “The scholarship program positively impacted not only my son, but my whole family. Skiwees was just what my family needed. The Ski program was wonderful and we would not have been able to afford to put him in ski camp without the scholarship. It gave my son another much needed outdoor recreation activity to get some physical fitness. It also gave his hardworking father a much needed break and a chance to go snowboarding on his own. Thank you so much and I hope that the winter camp scholarships will be available next winter."
AUGUST 12, 2012 Annual Croquet Fundraiser held at the Big Sky Golf Course.
The 2012 Tournamet will be on Sunday, August 12th. Women in Action's main fundraiser of the year is an annual croquet tournament in August held at the Big Sky Golf Course Driving Range. Proceeds from the event go directly to fund WIA's four programs. This is our main fundraising event and the revenue generated helps send kids to camp, receive urgent medical care, provides educational opportunities and allows for free participation in our highly utilized mental health program. In addition to generating much needed funds this event raises awareness of the existence of families in need in our community despite our resort environment.
Annual Flu Shot Clinic held at the Big Sky Medical Clinic.
Tuesday, October 18th between 4-7pm. Every fall Women In Action holds its annual flu shot clinic at the Medical Clinic in the Big Sky Town Center. WIA's partnership with Dr. Daniels and his accommodating staff allows the community to receive their annual flu shot at a reduced or free rate, just in time for the winter season. At this event information is provided for other health care services for families, children or individuals looking for assistance or low cost options. In the past the flu shot clinic has served over 75 children and adults. Applications for Women In Action are available for those who wish to apply for financial assistance with medical or dental follow up care.
