WIA Counseling Program
Ophir Elementary School and Lone Peak High School

WIA has teamed up with Ophir School and is funding the School Guidance Counselor so that they are available to the students and families for an additional 12 hours a week. The purpose of this program is to create an emotionally healthy academic environment. The program operates on an annual basis, but is revisited each quarter to ensure that it is meeting the needs of the school and the community. This is a cost-free service for children and families.

WIA Camp Scholarship Programs

Summer Camps

Women in Action is able to provide much needed summer camp scholarships for children from families needing assistance through our camp scholarship program. This is an essential program for working class families who desire a safe and enriching summer environment for their children. While providing access to local day camps it is also WIA’s aim to provide scholarships to extended stay camps where the children are exposed to life changing experiences. Some of the camps that are offered are Montana Outdoor Science (MOSS), Camp Big Sky, Peaks and Potentials, Equinox Summer Theater, Museum of the Rockies and Alpengirl. Support for the scholarships comes in part through the Camp Angel program, a fund-raising effort conducted each March. Individuals and businesses are asked to become Camp Angels by giving to the scholarship fund. Information packets, brochures and applications for both summer and winter camps will be available online (see the link below) or at the Ophir School every Spring.

Winter Ski Schools
Women in Action is also able to provide a winter ski school scholarship program. Children ages 3-14 will be able to apply to participate in either the Big Sky Resort’s or Moonlight Basin's ski camps. There are many working class families that do not have the resources and are therefore unable to take advantage of the benefits of living in a ski resort. WIA is working to making skiing available to our littlest community members.
